This last weekend was half relaxed and half busy. Do you ever have weekends like that? It’s nice because you don’t get totally exhausted from being non-stop busy.
On Friday after work, my hubs and I went out to dinner at Olive Garden- just the two of us. (Thanks to my in-laws for the gift card :) ) Right now they are doing the 2 for $25 deal, which means salad, bread sticks, spaghetti for me, chicken parmesan for hubby, and tiramisu to share, all for $25! (It also means so full! Carb overload much?) After dinner we met up with some friends for drinks and karaoke. Holly had never sang karaoke before, and she has an amazing voice, so I was very excited to be cheering her on as she crossed it off her bucket list! I did manage to sing one as well, with her of course. (I didn’t want to punish everyone there by singing by myself!) We sang Miranda Lambert’s Gunpowder and Lead. The perfect “girl power” song! We got our whole group to sing a final song before heading out- and it was the one song I knew would get everyone in the bar to join in on. Don’t Stop Believing, by Journey of course! I love that song, and I’m pretty sure all of America can sing along to it. There was a group of people there that night who were literally on their way out the door, heard the song come on and rushed over to our table to belt it out with us. It was hilarious and pretty awesome. After it was over, they high-fived us and one of them said, “Well played.” Yep, the perfect way to end a Friday night of karaoke.
Saturday morning was spent lounging around as it tried to snow outside. We then got ready for my friend’s wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony followed by a delicious dinner and fun reception. Added bonus, one of my best friends was the maid of honor, so she traveled down for the wedding from Missouri. It was so nice to be able to see her, even if it was just for a little while! I sure do miss my far away friends. After the wedding, my hubby and I made a quick pit stop to the store to pick up some essentials: a bottle of pre-made margarita, some coarse salt, and limes. Why the heck were these essentials, you ask? Well, because February 22 is National Margarita Day! I love margaritas, so I could not let this day go un-celebrated. When we got home, I whipped us up each a mason jar marg, which we sipped while watching Castle.
Sunday morning was spent trying out a new breakfast casserole with as few ingredients as possible. (Check out the 3 ingredient casserole here!) The rest of the day was really relaxing, just how I like it. I got to cuddle with the puppies, leisurely drink coffee, and write as the snow fell lightly outside. Hubby had to go in to work (boo!) but I was able to get lots of writing done- which is always a good thing.
What moments did you collect this weekend?
