Sweet Weekend

Hi there! How was your weekend? Mine was SWEET. I did a lot of baking this weekend:) Friday after work the clouds literally parted and the sun came out for the first time in weeks. I was beyond happy that the weekend was
upon me, the sun was making an appearance, and it was still light out by the time I got home. Oh, and I had a tasty vanilla latte from Starbucks!

I made dinner- pasta, roasted Brussel sprouts, and a salad. We had a relaxing night, knocking out about 18 loads of laundry. (How do two people accumulate SO MUCH laundry???)

Saturday morning was spent in my favorite fashion—a cup of coffee and an episode or two of Friends. And then the baking started. I was inspired to make some festive treats for Valentine’s Day. I made a batch of red
velvet scones with cream cheese glaze followed by heart-shaped sugar cookies with a simple icing. I’ll be sharing both this week!

Although the morning started out foggy, the sun came out again and we took advantage of it by doing some yard chores. Then we got all ready for date night! We went to Pybus Market, ordered a glass of wine at Jones’ tasting
room and had dinner. If you’re a local- you can order food from anywhere inside Pybus Market without leaving the Jones’ tasting room! It’s pretty awesome, and it’s pretty much one of our favorite date nights.

I ordered the pesto and prosciutto pizza from Fire, per the recommendation from Kat at Jones. I’m a sucker for prosciutto on my pizza, and this one did not disappoint. It was delicious! Marty ordered the smoked pork chop
from the Bistro, which came with smoked apples and fingerling potatoes. SO GOOD! Everything was prepared perfectly and I could not get enough of the pork and apple combo. Definitely going to try and recreate at home on the
grill this spring! And, let’s not forget about the wine. I had the Reserve Malbec (one of my absolute faves- go get some before they run out!) and Marty had the Pinot Gris- which is also very good. I’ve loved all Jones of
Washington wines that I’ve tried- which is why we are wine club members:)

Sunday morning Marty and I had coffee and scones and did a bible study together. It was really great, and we got through some good stuff in the book of Romans.

We had some napping pups too, while we did some work in our office:)

The rest of the day was spent relaxing and getting things ready for the week. I took an amazing bath in my recently made-over master bathroom, which I’ll be sharing more about later!

And now here we are! We made it through another Monday. Four more days until a three day weekend and Valentine’s Day! I can’t wait!

xoxo,
Kayla
