The Easiest Way to Make Hard Boiled Eggs

Okay… so really this is the easiest way to make hard boiled eggs for me.  I feel like I’ve read a lot of different ways to make them- some of which sound more complicated than they do easy.  It really isn’t that hard, and I don’t have to do anything special like baking them in the oven, or covering them for precisely 10 minutes after you remove them from heat… and I have never had any issues with them being overcooked.  Or under cooked for that matter.

I do understand why there are so many different ways to make them though, each claiming to be the best or easiest.  It’s because if you forget about them while they’re boiling and they get overcooked, the yoke loses its attractive coloring and they are nearly impossible to peel.  Seriously, it’s like the shell is super glued to the egg!  And then, by the time you’re done peeling, half the egg has come off with the shell, so it ends up looking quite sad.  This doesn’t have to happen though, I promise!  Here is, what I have found to be, the easiest way to make hard boiled eggs.

First, take some eggs.

IMG_7158Once you see these little bubbles, set your timer for 10 minutes.  Now you can go do whatever you want for ten minutes until the timer goes off.  Just let the eggs boil for the ten minutes.

When the timer goes off, dump the water into the sink and run some cold water over the eggs.

Once you’re ready to eat them, they should be done perfectly.  IMG_7170 IMG_7171Ta da!  Look at that yoke… and the egg is all still intact :)

I like to whip up hard boiled eggs to have for breakfast on the weekends.  Paired with toast, cereal, or whatever else makes for a satisfying start to your day.  Here we had them with Cheerios and apple juice.  I love breakfast :)
