Day 12 – Salt Lake City, UT
On Tuesday morning, we got out of bed early to say goodbye to Las Vegas and all its craziness. Until next time.
The morning and early part of our afternoon were spent driving through Nevada, briefly into Arizona, and then into Utah. Until then I had never been to Utah. We made a pit stop in St. George to get a bite to eat and use the restroom. Then it was back on the road.
When we got close to our Salt Lake City hotel, we stopped off so we could see the Up House. It’s actually a photographer’s home or studio I believe, and it’s completely in a residential neighborhood so we felt like total creepers getting out to take pictures. But alas, we’re simply tourists who know no better.
We checked into our hotel in SLC early in the afternoon. (We stayed at the Little America hotel downtown.) After getting ourselves unloaded, organized, and freshened up we walked downtown a little ways to Takashi for dinner. We got a California roll and a Philadelphia roll to split and both were really good. It was a cute spot for dinner with good prices, and I’m glad we went there. Plus our next destination was right next store: The Melting Pot.
We didn’t want to pay the high price to eat dinner there, so we just went in for dessert. We went for their signature chocolate which has peanut butter in it. They bring out the chocolate with a whole array of dippers (which they will replenish for you if you use them all before the chocolate is all gone.) It was all so good, and I was on sugar-overload. Plus, we got a good laugh because we chose the most romantic place in town for dessert – pretty sure our waiter thought we were on a date!
After dinner and dessert, we walked back to our hotel to get ready for the next day, relax in bed, and watch reruns of Full House.
