Day 9 – The Grand Canyon | Las Vegas, NV
We checked out of our hotel in Sedona early to keep trekking on our journey. The terrain driving out of Sedona was pretty amazing. From there we drove about two hours to the GRAND CANYON.
We made it there early, before the place was crowded (it was Saturday), so we got a great parking spot. Walking up to the grand canyon for the first time was amazing. It’s such a sight to see. It’s called “grand” for a reason, y’all. We wandered around for awhile, checking out as many viewpoints as we could. Merry was afraid to get too close to the edge, even if there was a railing:) Guys, if you haven’t been to the Grand Canyon before, put it on your list. It’s just awesome.
And then… HELLO VEGAS! (For the fifth time.) Finding parking at our hotel was a nightmare, because apparently everyone and there sister decided to park at the Flamingo that day. I was super eager to get up to our room because… My husband was there! He had flown to Vegas Friday, and was there with his friend Dan to hang out with us for part of our adventure:) I had been missing him, so I was so glad to have him there! And he surprised me with a present:)
For early dinner, we went to the Yard House in the quad area between the LINQ hotel and the Flamingo. It’s a large restaurant with a pub-feel and a very extensive menu. (And an even more extensive beer selection.) Merry and I each ordered a watermelon beer and it was pretty good. For dinner, I ordered the small portion of the mac and cheese which was BOMB. Next, we crossed the street to go to the Spanish Steps Mojito Hut – a must! I went here in January as well, the drinks are so fresh and so good! (And so expensive, but it’s Vegas, amiright?) I got the Black Dragon Mojito, which I highly recommend.
The boys had a show to go to that night, so we had a girl’s night out! First stop of the night was the Chandelier Bar in the Cosmopolitan. This place is so girly, sparkly, and fabulous. We ordered a round of cosmos and hung out for a bit. After we did a little gambling to pass the time (not much) and I ended up winning like ten dollars. (SCORE!) When the slots couldn’t keep us entertained any longer, we headed to the third floor and found Secret Pizza for a little snack. The white pizza is my favorite. Because, ricotta cheese.
Next we headed to the Marquee for some dancing. (We got in for free.) I loved the outdoor area – anywhere you can see a view of those Vegas lights is fab! After our night of dancing, we headed to the LINQ hotel to meet up with the boys. We stopped by a tequila bar, then over to Margaritaville to cross “margarita flight” off our list. We got one to share, which was good, because some of them were too sweet for me, and Merry had to finish them:) There was a really great band playing so we jammed for a bit until the boys met up with us.
From there, it was over to Hash House A Go Go in the LINQ, to end the night in true Taylor Swift Fashion. We were feeling 22, so we had to have breakfast at midnight!
