Day 8 – Sedona, AZ
Day 8, we headed out of Palm Springs, reluctantly. It was such a beautiful place that just oozed summer. I definitely want to go back again one day! We drove most the morning in the desert, headed to Arizona. I know I’ve mentioned this in a previous post, but I am NOT A FAN of driving in the desert. The cacti are cool to see, sure, but you can’t help praying the entire time that your car doesn’t break down. And leave you stranded. In the 500 degree heat. Where poisonous snakes, scorpions, and tarantulas roam free. (I may be exaggerating. A little.) But seriously, I did see a snake in the middle of the road on our way to Arizona.
This was my first time in Arizona, ever. While we did drive right by Phoenix, the only place we stopped while in Arizona was Sedona. We made it to our hotel (Best Western Inn & Suites) at about 2 in the afternoon. The view from our patio was so amazing. Sedona is beautiful.
We’d only eaten snacks we had in the car all day so we were FAMISHED upon arrival to Sedona. We used our hotel’s complimentary shuttle service and went downtown to the Barking Frog Grille. It was a huge restaurant with a great atmosphere, and since it was an awkward time between lunch and dinner, there weren’t many people there. We were able to order off the happy hour menu, and we each got a prickly pear margarita. They were SO good, sweet, and perfectly pink. If it’s pink, it already has points going for it in my book. We also ordered santa fe egg rolls, cactus fries, and pork tacos. The cactus fries weren’t bad, but not my favorite. Everything else we ordered was delicious and spot on. We left full and happy.
Back at our hotel we went down to the pool for a little while. The rest of the evening we spent out on the patio, enjoying a strawberry beer as the sun went down. I’d definitely visit Sedona again, as long as I had more time to explore.
