{"id":40,"date":"2013-02-03T10:48:00","date_gmt":"2013-02-03T18:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/momentsdontcollectdust.com\/?p=40"},"modified":"2014-07-09T19:52:17","modified_gmt":"2014-07-10T02:52:17","slug":"wedding-details-love-is-sweet-candy-bar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/momentsdontcollectdust.com\/?p=40","title":{"rendered":"Wedding Details: Love is Sweet Candy Bar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-FFubdSTsw9k\/UQ6peXHgPdI\/AAAAAAAAAXM\/rmW_9S_6EME\/s1600\/img_9816t.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-FFubdSTsw9k\/UQ6peXHgPdI\/AAAAAAAAAXM\/rmW_9S_6EME\/s320\/img_9816t.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"506\" height=\"457\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today I want to share a favorite wedding detail from my wedding last June. \u00a0I opted for a candy bar in place of individual wedding favors. \u00a0I loved the idea right when I saw it, and immediately got to researching the details. \u00a0It&#8217;s actually a very affordable option- more affordable than any favors I liked. \u00a0I&#8217;m going to share pictures, as well as break down the details and costs. \u00a0My biggest piece of advice for wedding planning is use what you <i>already have! <\/i>(Or what anyone else you know already has!) \u00a0It minimizes the amount of things you&#8217;re buying just for the wedding. \u00a0I used a lot of glassware and little decorations that I had at home, and when the wedding was over they went right back to decorating my house rather than sitting in a box labeled &#8220;wedding stuff.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The best part about doing a candy bar? \u00a0Picking out your favorite candy, of course! \u00a0I went\u00a0through\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.candywarehouse.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Candy Warehouse<\/a>, an online website for purchasing candy in bulk. \u00a0They have so many options and you can search by your wedding colors! \u00a0It&#8217;s best to know where your wedding will be held (indoor\/outdoor) before purchasing the candy. \u00a0My wedding was outdoors in June, so I knew that chocolate was off limits. \u00a0I stuck to candy that I knew wouldn&#8217;t melt if the weather was really warm. \u00a0Here&#8217;s a breakdown of the candy I purchased and their prices through Candy Warehouse:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-kytgCYRjDZ8\/UQ6oZLW86NI\/AAAAAAAAAW8\/gX2iajT1jEE\/s1600\/img_9817.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-kytgCYRjDZ8\/UQ6oZLW86NI\/AAAAAAAAAW8\/gX2iajT1jEE\/s320\/img_9817.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"409\" height=\"615\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Tootsie Roll Frooties in Strawberry Lemonade- $7.20 for a 360 piece bag:<\/b> \u00a0I&#8217;ve always loved these little candies. \u00a0I used to walk down to the mini mart with my brother and we would stock up (they were only \u00a0a penny a piece back then!) \u00a0One bag was plenty for our guest list of around a hundred.<\/li>\n<li><b>Laffy Taffy in Strawberry- $14.50 for a 145 piece tub:<\/b> \u00a0I love Laffy Taffy, complete with a joke on every wrapper. \u00a0These were a hit!<\/li>\n<li><b>Pink Pillow Mints- $9.90 for a 14 ounce bag (about 350 pieces):<\/b> \u00a0What&#8217;s a wedding without mints for after dinner?<\/li>\n<li><b>Pink and White Candy Sticks: <\/b>\u00a0$12.50 for a 250 piece box: \u00a0Although these wouldn&#8217;t make my favorite candy list, they were too adorable to pass up. \u00a0Plus, they look like a vintage candy, and my wedding was vintage-inspired.<\/li>\n<li><b>Salt Water Taffy in Strawberry and Creme: \u00a0$15.00 for a 3 pound bag (about 195 pieces): <\/b>\u00a0My husband and I both love salt water taffy, and there are so many flavors to choose from! \u00a0At the time, we chose this flavor because it was on sale for $12.50- so be looking for deals!<\/li>\n<li><b>White &#8220;Just Married&#8221; Candy Rolls- $24.50 for about 150 rolls:<\/b> \u00a0I fell in love with these the moment I saw them. \u00a0They are rolls of white candies that say &#8220;Just Married&#8221; on them. \u00a0If you&#8217;re wondering what they taste like, they are similar to the white &#8220;Smarties&#8221; candy- very good, and larger than I was expecting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-xnjlOLsz9sc\/UQ6oWrgQIxI\/AAAAAAAAAWs\/X4bHjar7Rjk\/s1600\/img_9815.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-xnjlOLsz9sc\/UQ6oWrgQIxI\/AAAAAAAAAWs\/X4bHjar7Rjk\/s320\/img_9815.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"436\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-4ovOym4RXNI\/UQ6oOk0sivI\/AAAAAAAAAVs\/KFguZrXDv4o\/s1600\/icon-126676.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-4ovOym4RXNI\/UQ6oOk0sivI\/AAAAAAAAAVs\/KFguZrXDv4o\/s200\/icon-126676.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"266\" height=\"253\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-ob1YX7EC0KM\/UQ6oSR7ZgjI\/AAAAAAAAAWI\/EitP1mpygQI\/s1600\/img_9721.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-ob1YX7EC0KM\/UQ6oSR7ZgjI\/AAAAAAAAAWI\/EitP1mpygQI\/s200\/img_9721.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"264\" height=\"264\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After I purchased the candy, I had to figure out the rest of the candy bar details: \u00a0bags for guests to put the candy in, candy scoops, jars\/ containers, and the table decor. \u00a0I was able to find the bags and the scoops on Amazon. \u00a0I knew I wanted small white paper bags, nothing fancy. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Pacon-72020-Rainbow-white-uncoated\/dp\/B0015ZUPBS\/ref=pd_sbs_k_1\" target=\"_blank\">Here<\/a> is a link to a vendor that has a pack of 100 for $11.69. \u00a0I definitely had a <i>lot <\/i>left over. \u00a0I&#8217;m still thinking of projects to do with them! \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Scoops-Metal-Aluminum-2-Ounce-Candy\/dp\/B006IURXEC\/ref=sr_1_10?s=home-garden&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1359911371&amp;sr=1-10&amp;keywords=candy+scoop\" target=\"_blank\">Here<\/a> is a link to the adorable 2 oz aluminum scoops I found. \u00a0I purchased two of them, and they worked just fine. They were less than $3.00 each.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-OoUQIqPJNvw\/UQ6oaEBacVI\/AAAAAAAAAXE\/j7n9hTcPADo\/s1600\/Scoop.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-OoUQIqPJNvw\/UQ6oaEBacVI\/AAAAAAAAAXE\/j7n9hTcPADo\/s400\/Scoop.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"590\" height=\"392\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>For the jars, I lucked out. \u00a0My sister-in-law had a set of two lovely apothecary jars with lids that she let me use. \u00a0My mom also provided me with a large jar, and I purchased some inexpensive hurricane vases from Ross for the rest.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>The candy bar decorations were simple. \u00a0I used blue vases from home, and we put a single pink carnation in each of them. \u00a0For the &#8220;candy bar&#8221; sign, I used a free printable from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weddingchicks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wedding Chicks<\/a>. \u00a0Their website is fabulous, and they have so many great free printables where you can pick the colors! \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.weddingchicks.com\/freebies\/wedding-signs-labels\/custom-candy-bar-label\/\" target=\"_blank\">Here<\/a> is a link to the printable I used. \u00a0I framed it in a $1.00 frame, and was so happy with how it turned out!
