Fashion Fears

Who here has put together an outfit, modeled it in front of the mirror and decided it was super cute, only to change out of it and into something else more “you” at the last second before leaving the house? Looks left. Looks right. Slowly raises hand.

Guilty!

I must say, I’m not as guilty of this as I was in high school, but I still find myself buying things of a certain trend that I like and then never wearing them because they don’t fit in with my typical wardrobe. Humph. What’s the fun in finding new trends you love if you’re not going to partake in the wearing of said trends? When Dia&Co reached out and challenged me to face my fashion fears, I had to accept the challenge!

I already had some trends in mind that I had been loving and had yet to take the plunge to try and incorporate them into my wardrobe, so I was excited to pick out some new pieces and style them for this post! I’m definitely not a fashion blogger by any means, but I do love fashion. Here are my picks:

Distressed Boyfriend Jeans – Basically all my jeans are simple skinny jeans, but I’ve always loved the boyfriend jean trend, especially with distressed denim! I always thought it was meant for taller gals, and since I’m so short (5’2”) I never bought a pair. Until now! I love how casual these are.

Cut-Out Shoulder Sweater – I’ve actually tried this trend on in stores and felt like I couldn’t pull it off, so it never made it into my cart. In order to face my fashion fears I marched right out and picked this one up. I’m so glad I did because I love it!

Shift Dress – I love dresses, but I realized I only have dresses with fitted waistlines. I really like the shift dress style, but feared the lacking defined waistline would look boxy and awkward on me. I was surprised how much I actually liked it when I brought this lace shift dress home. It’s so comfortable and versatile. Plus, I love lace anything.

I had so much fun with this challenge, and I definitely feel like I’ve added some great pieces to my wardrobe. If you have a style you’ve been eyeing but don’t think you can pull off, face your fashion fears and give it a try! Pair it with something you’re really comfortable in to give you more of a confidence boost.

What new trends are you excited to try?

XO,
Kayla
