Fall Baby Shower Brunch

On the last day in September my mom hosted a beautiful fall baby shower brunch for me and baby girl. I got to help with the details which I love, and it went flawlessly. When we were discussing how to seat everybody, I mentioned how I’d seen short tables where people sit on pillows on the ground all around it. My step-dad ended up making us one and it worked perfectly! I want to host a million more garden parties and use it ;)

The brunch was held outside at my mom’s on a beautiful fall day – a little on the chilly side, so we had a basket full of blankets and hot coffee to keep people warm. We had our short table, plus some other regular tables with chairs so not everyone had to sit on the ground. We kept the tables decorated simply with fall flowers, tealights, maternity pictures, and a pumpkin centerpiece filled with the prettiest pink carnations.

The little welcome area had a chalkboard I decorated for the occasion and a table for the guestbook/ address book, some more pictures, and gifts. I picked out the cutest fall children’s book for the guest book – I’ve already read it to the bump twice!

For favors, we bought some packets of hot chocolate and a package of pumpkin spice marshmallows – which are so cute and actually shaped like pumpkins! I made a sign that said “Thank you for showering our little pumpkin” to display next to them. Such a simple fall favor!

For games and prizes we kept it pretty simple. We had a diaper raffle for those who brought a package of diapers to get a chance to win a “grand” prize (aka, Amazon gift card + fall scented soap). We played the “guess the bump size game, the “don’t say baby” game with little pink clothespins, the “who knows mommy or daddy best” game with some trivia about Marty and I, and my favorite – “baby’s first portrait” where everyone got an index card + a marker, and while holding the index card to their forehead they had to draw baby girl BLIND, and I got to pick my favorite! So much fun! The prizes for these were some fall-scented goodies from Bath & Body Works.

We also had a photo booth area, which just consisted of my camera on a tripod, some fun props, and my gold frame. I love having something like this set up because it helps me to remember to get pictures with everyone!

Now let’s talk about the FOOD. The glue that holds these kinds of events together ;) While my instincts initially were envisioning a brunch with waffles and doughnuts, we ultimately decided to go with a lighter menu which was perfect. My mom did all the cooking and everything was fabulous. We had two kinds of mini quiches, bacon and sausage, strawberries and cantaloupe, some doughnut holes, and mini pumpkin muffins with whipped cream. YUM. Everything was delicious and the best part was I didn’t go into a food coma after ;) To drink we had water, hot coffee, and sparkling apple cider.

After eating and games, I opened presents – so many sweet things for baby girl!

And also, the party wouldn’t have been complete without some festive outfits on display. Baby girl clothes are the cutest!

So many thanks to my mom for throwing this shower and to my auntie and sister-in-law who helped out so much! And thanks to all the ladies who attended and showered our little pumpkin!

XO,
Kayla
