We woke up suuuuper early on Sunday to have coffee and get ready before driving to west Maui for the day. We left as it was just lightening up outside. We stopped at Farmers Market Maui for acai bowls (and another pineapple for the condo). They were so fresh and refreshing – a perfect breakfast. We took them to go and ate them on the beach – Napili Bay. I really wanted to go here last time but we tried too late in the morning and there was nowhere to park. We made sure to arrive before the sun this time to get a good spot. We were one of the first people there.

We had a great morning at Napili Bay – the water there is crystal clear, so gorgeous. Plus it was warmer. We relaxed, read, swam, and even busted out our snorkeling gear to swim with some fishies. I would definitely go back here.

We worked up an appetite at the beach and drove over to Maui Taco for an inexpensive and filling lunch. Merry and I shared a platter with fish tacos and the husband got a pork bowl. Everything was really good – my favorite part is all the sauces they have to use. Seriously, give me all the sauces.

After lunch we headed to Front Street in Lahaina to see the banyan tree, do some shopping, and eat killer gelato from Ono Gelato. Tiramisu and salted caramel. FAVE. Plus, they have such a great little sitting area with an amazing view.

On our way back toward the condo we stopped at Leoda’s. We went here last time too and I loved it. We picked up a banana cream pie for later and some lemonades. You guys – their banana cream pies are just amazing. And what birthday trip is complete without some birthday pie? ;)

Back at our condo we got ready for dinner and headed out to Monkeypod in Wailea for happy hour. This place was SO good, I’m really glad we went here. Their happy hour is really great too. Merry and I each got a mai tai after I read so many raving reviews about them, and I have to agree – it was definitely one of the best I’ve ever had. The lilikoi foam on top – omg. So darn good. We got pork and shrimp wontons and lobster deviled eggs for appetizers which were both delicious. The servings were small, but we couldn’t complain because they were half off for happy hour. We also ordered the kalua pork and pineapple pizza which was also delicious. (Most of their pizzas are $9 for happy hour!) After we demolished the pizza we felt like we had room for a little more food and ordered the truffle fries. They were also very very good. We left full and happy. :)

Back at the condo we relaxed and had our banana cream pie from Leoda’s. Perfect end to another perfect day in paradise!

Come back soon to read about our next day on Maui!
