April 2015 Recap

I just adore spring and its loveliness. April was especially lovely this year! Here’s how my month went:

Traveled: We only went outside our hometown a couple times this month, so rather than traveling places I was busy planning travel. I’ve got a big road trip coming up in August and then we have a pretty exciting trip in the works for February of next year. Can’t wait! More details on both to come!

Read: I borrowed “Son of Hamas” from my brother, and wow. What a read! It’s written by a son of one of the founders of Hamas (a Palestinian Islamic organization known as a terrorist group) – who accepted the position of “double agent” between Hamas and Israel. He lives in the U.S. now and has become a Christian. I read it in mere days – it was very intriguing.

Ate & Drank: I made the best fettucini I’ve ever made this month. I’d like to make it again and share the recipe – it was SO good! Oh, and mini pizzas were fun and delicious. Our memorable meals outside the house were a killer Easter brunch and some tasty food fair grub. Gyros and Shiskaberries are where it’s at. (And a couple bites of my hubby’s caramel funnel cake!) Freshly squeezed strawberry lemonade and raspberry iced tea both put a smile on my face this month. I also had some great wine this month. Jones of WA released their 2014 Rose of Syrah which is refreshing but not too sweet. I also finally opened a bottle of Coiled Dry Reisling that was given to me last summer. It’s SO good. Definitely my kind of white wine!

Friends: We went to a couple birthday celebrations this month which meant we got to have some friend time. The first was a surprise party out of town. Surprise parties are always a hoot. The second gathering was an impromptu barbecue with great food, great friends, and laughs around the fire. I’ve got some plans in the books with some of my dear friends this summer also and I am SO excited!

Family: I got to have family time this month between Easter and all of the family birthday celebrations we had. Plus, I made it to one of my little brother’s track meets.

Exercise: TENNIS! The weather has been amazing- I love hitting the courts in the sun!

Celebrate: This month we had Easter, a couple birthday celebrations, National Siblings Day, and the beginning of Apple Blossom Festival. Easter was celebrated with Church and brunch – my favorite Easter combo. This month was my nephew, Spencer’s, 10th birthday. We went out to dinner on his actual birthday and we also celebrated at his birthday party at the bowling alley/ arcade.

Mani of the Month: I enjoyed rocking pastel purple nails for Easter, which is the only time I’ll ever paint my nails purple.

Smiles: Fresh tulips, iced vanilla latte + blooms, date night at Jones tasting room at Pybus, a new t-shirt, and officially booking the ultimate road trip have all got me grinning to the max.

Heard: Moments Like This by The Afters is my anthem right now. I just love it.

Watched: I never watched Gilmore Girls, but since it’s on Netflix I’ve been hammering through episodes left and right. I didn’t feel like a proper girl having not watched them:) Love it so far!

And with that, it’s time to say adios April. May- you’re up. XO
