Weekend Snapshots

Can you believe this weekend was the last weekend in March? This week, we will be greeting April! While April showers are supposed to bring May flowers, we’ve been seeing blooms everywhere, and it’s only March! It just goes to show, you can’t put mother nature on a clock.

Our weather has been just lovely. It’s been bizarre leaving the house without a jacket, especially since I’m pretty sure we got snow in March last year. Friday we had a date night in our backyard, complete with the tastiest s’mores ever. (Details on this tomorrow!)

For breakfast Saturday morning, we went to Glaze in East Wenatchee. Glaze has been around for a few years now I think, and it’s simply delicious. They have donuts, breads, other baked goods, and sandwiches. My husband and I split a breakfast sandwich, the croissant square, and we both got a donut as well. Donuts are basically non-negotiable when you go in there. They are SO good! The croissant square sandwich is also really good. It’s a delicious croissant topped with lots of ham and melted Swiss cheese. Splitting it was perfect because it’s pretty large.

After breakfast we headed out of town for an adventure to the Lake Wenatchee area to look at real estate. Husband and I are pining away for a second home in the woods. I’m sure we are years away from this becoming a reality, but we can’t help but look and hope that maybe we’ll find just the right tiny cabin nestled in the mountains that we can give some TLC and make our own. I’m one of those people who love to drive around with no place to go, so I enjoyed our spontaneous trip. We found so many gorgeous cabins, chalets, and homes- but unfortunately we didn’t see a ton for sale. We made a pit stop at the Lake Wenatchee State Park to stretch our legs. It was overcast and windy, but it was still beautiful. The little store wasn’t open, but the sign had me wishing it was summer and I could get some ice cream!

Leavenworth, our little Bavarian Village, has lots of places that sell ice cream so we stopped when we got into town. We picked Das Sweet Shoppe which is a candy shop that has fudge, candy, novelty items, and ice cream way at the back. I knew I wanted the salted caramel, and I was able to sample it before committing to a full cone of it. IT WAS DELISH! Way better than I thought it would be. Husband loves salted caramel anything, and got the same:)

Saturday night we met up with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law for dinner and wine at the Jones tasting room in Pybus Market- one of our favorite places in town. Great wine, great food, and great company makes for a wonderful Saturday night!

Sunday was relaxing. We went over to my parent’s house in the afternoon so Marty could fix an internet issue they were having. We brought the dogs along because they adore going to grandma’s house. On our way back home we stopped by Rusty’s in Cashmere for milkshakes. They are delicious there.
